The Australia Britain Society was founded in 1971 with the purpose of maintaining, enhancing and celebrating the numerous links between Australia and Britain. The society emphasises the role of youth in supporting a modern and evolving relationship between Australia and Britain, and so conducts a yearly program of sponsorships and awards like the PESA competition.
The ACT Branch of the Australia Britain Society enjoys many social functions and welcomes new members of any age. They are a non political organisation which does not concern itself with issues of the proposed Australian republic nor suggested changes to the national flag. The ACT Branch funds and convenes ACT PESA, and also provides sponsorship for young ACT persons who are engaging with the Young Endeavour program.
